This listing is for an antique 19th Century circa 1882 French Limoges porcelain ice cream or dessert set by Charles Field Haviland and Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel. The set consists of a large platter and 11 square plates. The large platter measures 16" long and 9 5/8" wide. The plates measure 8" long and are 6" wide. They are beautifully painted with deep cobalt blue rims with gilt branches and twigs with raised white enameled flowers.
The centers are white with a bluish tint. There is heavy brushed gilt on all the edges. Marked on the verso CFH GDM for Charles Field Haviland and Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel which used this mark in 1862. Also an importer mark reading "Waight Tyndale & Van Roden Importers Philadelphia" in gold. Three of the square plates are free from chips.
The others have a small chip on the edge. The large platter has a chip on one corner edge. All of the white center areas are pristine with no signs of use. Still very presentable and a beautiful set that is 160 years old!
