Born June 28, 1917 in Lyon in central France into a family of industrialist and peers of France. He abandoned all the business prospects open to him to study art at Lyon, then moved to Paris to pursue his career as an artist.
In a few years his talent for sensitive portraiture had earned him an international reputation and he was considered one of the most prestigious portrait painters in Europe. At the same time he constructed compositions, animated by dreamy figures, rustic landscapes and seascapes had attracted the attention of American audiences and his work became highly sought after by U. Philippe Noyer is now one of the most well respected artists in the world.His works have been shown in Paris, Rome, London, Stockholm, Palm Beach, Los Angeles and in fact, in nearly every major city in the western world. Philippe Noyer's work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, the Seattle Art Museum, the Museum of Fine Art in Boston and Phoenix and many other fine museums.
